Leana Simper
Director/Principal
Leana began dancing at the tender age of 3 years old. She studied classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, world dance and of course, acrobatics! Leana was a competitive gymnast in her younger years who changed to acrobatic dance later in life when it was introduced at her dance studio. In 1996, Leana was accepted into The Victorian College of The Arts Secondary School's illustrious dance program.
Leana went on to perform in many professional shows after graduating as both a dancer and an acrobat. Some credits include, Myer Christmas Parade's, Mazda new car launches, Vodafone Australia corporate events and many other International companies corporate events. Leana soon discovered her true passion and love was for teaching and helping others to become the best they could be.
Leana is a head trainer and examiner for The Acrobatic Dance Association and is currently writing the extension syllabus. Leana has also recently become an adjudicator for Launch's Acrobatic Dance Competition's. She has adjudicated many dance competitions across Victoria and NSW.
Leana has been teaching Acrobatics, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical theatre and Competition Solos/Troupes at multiple dance studios around Melbourne for over 23 years. She also currently runs the acrobatic dance program at The Victorian College of The Arts Secondary School. She holds accreditations with The Acrobatic Dance Association, Acrobatic Arts and Alixa Flexibility. Her unique cross training allows her to offer her students the best of each method to find what works for each individual.
Leana is passionate about helping every child achieve their goals and providing top quality training. Acrobatics can be quite challenging for some and she makes sure that every child is moving at a pace they are comfortable and safe with. Her classes are fun, engaging, positive and she is well sought after for private lessons and choreographic competition solos.
Leana is very excited to be opening Acro Evolution. She looks forward to training the next generation of acrobats and helping them reach their true potential.
We are currently taking expressions of interest for assistant teaching positions.
